Heather L. Moore, JD        Clerk and Master

The Clerk and Master’s office of Montgomery County, Tennessee serves the Chancellor, Attorneys and Montgomery County citizens by providing high quality, courteous, and responsive court services. Constantly evolving laws, higher court decisions, rules and regulations will continue to cause significant and unanticipated increases in workload associated with initiating and trying cases.

When people come to our office, they are often dealing with some of the most difficult situations of their lives. They deserve respect, courtesy, accurate information and peace of mind knowing that our office is going to handle their case correctly.  Our goal is to help build confidence in the administration of Chancery Court business.  Often individuals are going through painful divorces, the loss of a loved one, or some other domestic issue.  Some are fighting to protect their livelihood, home or a beloved family member from being taken advantage of or harmed while others are trying to put their lives back together and need guidance on where to go for help. We recognize that our most difficult customer is probably going through one of the worst times in their lives and they don’t know what to do.  Often they don’t understand the court process, they don’t know the terminology, it’s confusing and it can be expensive. Most often people utilize the services of attorneys which is always in their best interest and why we highly encourage it.  Our staff is mindful that each attorney or their staff that comes into our office is there representing someone in need.

We are public servants; it is never our intention to make access to the Chancery Court difficult. Our Clerks strive to be as helpful as possible but are mindful that providing legal advice is prohibited as they are not attorneys. It is our mission to serve the residents of Montgomery County with courtesy, accuracy and efficiency.
