County Offices Closed in Observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – Montgomery County Government offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. All County offices will reopen on Monday, Dec. 2, during normal operating hours. 

Online services provided by various Montgomery County Government offices can be found at mcgtn.org under the GOV tab.

Bi-County Solid Waste Management Transfer Station Temporarily Closed for Repairs

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – The Bi-County Solid Waste Management Transfer Station at 1230 Highway Drive will close Monday, November 11 to Thursday, November 14 for repairs. Bi-County anticipates the Transfer Station will re-open on Friday, November 15. Should the repairs take longer than expected, Bi-County will notify the public through local media and Montgomery County social media outlets.

During the closure, all large loads must be delivered to Bi-County’s main landfill location at 3212 Dover Road between the hours of:

  • Monday – Friday - 5:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday – 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We understand this closure is an inconvenience, but it is necessary to keep the unit in operation for future use. We appreciate our patrons’ cooperation during this time,” stated Executive Director of Bi-County Solid Waste Mark Neblett.

Montgomery County Hires Director of Communications and Marketing

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. – Michelle Hueffmeier was recently selected for the position of Director of Communications and Marketing for the communications department. 

Hueffmeier has over 19 years of experience in marketing content, internal/external communications, brand strategy, management, and event planning. She has held various roles within the communications field. Previously, Hueffmeier was the Vice President Communications and Marketing Director of Investor Relations for the Clarksville-Economic Development Council from 2019-2024. In that role, she managed branding, public relations, and marketing for the Economic Development Council (EDC) and its partners. This included overseeing communications, marketing efforts, investor relations, and maintaining websites. She also led the creative efforts for the 2019 Best Place to Live Campaign in collaboration with the City of Clarksville & Montgomery County. Prior to that role, she functioned as the assistant director of marketing and design, art director, designer, and communications director at the EDC. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art /Visual Communication from Washington University in St. Louis, along with numerous awards and certifications.  
 
“We are pleased to welcome Michelle to the team and believe her tenure with the Economic Development Council, marketing experience and strong community connections will be a valuable asset to the Communications department.” said County Mayor Wes Golden. 
 
Her responsibilities as Director of Communications and Marketing include enhancing and promoting the Montgomery County brand, creating marketing materials for County-owned venues, overseeing operations, marketing, and maintenance of County-owned Plaza venue, and developing promotional material for internal and external audiences. 
 
She will also be responsible for writing and editing County reports, articles, and news releases, maintaining records, preparing visual aids, coordinating and participating in public relations activities, and assisting the Mayor, County Commission, departments, elected officials, and boards in achieving public relations and information goals. Additionally, Hueffmeier will coordinate and participate in the dissemination of information and planning of public relations activities for all departments, agencies, or services of the County government, 
 
Hueffmeier joined the team in October and is gradually transitioning from her previous role to the county.  
 
“I am excited to join the Montgomery County team as Director of Communications and Marketing. I look forward to utilizing my experience to assist the County with its marketing efforts and strengthen community branding. I am eager to enhance partnerships and innovation for Montgomery County in my new role.” said Hueffmeier. 

 
Michelle currently resides in Clarksville with her husband and two boys and enjoys traveling, volunteering, biking, running, and community engagement.

County Offices Closed in Observance of Veterans Day

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Tenn. — Montgomery County Government offices will close Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of the Veterans Day federal holiday. All Montgomery County offices will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 12, during regular operating hours.

The Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization will host the 2024 Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 9, at 10 a.m. This year's theme celebrates "80 Years of Service by the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization." Pre-parade ceremonies will begin at 9 a.m. on the Third Street side of the Historic Courthouse, and the parade will be broadcast live on the County's Facebook page and CDE Lightband’s Clarksville Community Network (CCN).

Retired Army First Sergeant Dr. Andrew Kester, former director of the MCVSO, will be the keynote speaker.

2024 CLARKSVILLE-MONTGOMERY COUNTY VETERANS DAY PARADE

The Clarksville-Montgomery County Veterans Day Parade will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, with pre-parade ceremonies set for 9 a.m. in front of the Historic Courthouse (south side) on Third Street in downtown Clarksville. The keynote speaker is retired Army First Sergeant Dr. Andrew Kester, former director of the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization (MCVSO), who now serves Montgomery County as the Director of Continuous Improvement. 

This year’s Veterans Day parade theme is a tribute to “80 Years of Service by the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization.”

For those unable to attend in person, the parade will be live-streamed on the Montgomery County, Tennessee official Facebook page. It will also be filmed and posted on CDE Lightband’s Clarksville Community Network (CCN).

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the corner of N. Eighth and College Streets, next to the Sundquist Science Building at Austin Peay State University (APSU), with the reviewing stand at the Third Street side of the courthouse. The parade will proceed from College Street left onto University Avenue, right onto Main Street, left onto 3rd Street, left onto Commerce Street, left onto University Avenue, right onto Franklin Street, left onto Eighth Street, and back to the APSU parking area.
